Good morning Thunder Basketball families. I hope your school year had a great finish and summer is off to a good start. I wanted to take some time to announce our summer schedule. We have some exciting opportunities to help our athletes stay in the gym, prepare for next season, and practice the discipline of compounding in their lives!

1st we have our Competitive Scrimmage Series in the month of June. We will be opening the 1st Baptist Gym on Mondays. These events will not feature coach instruction. Coaches will be there to get things started and then allow for our players to scrimmage. These sessions will be competitive and a great chance for your athlete to put their hard work into practice against players their age. These sessions are not just for Thunder players. We are opening the gym for any homeschool student with an understanding of the game/rules of basketball. If you have friends that are interested in playing Thunder or just want to get some reps in, this is a great opportunity to bring them to the gym. What: Competitive Scrimmage Series
Dates: Mondays in June (3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th)
Who / When:
MS / HS Girls, 3:30 – 4:30pm
MS Boys, 4:30 – 5:30pm
HS Boys, 5:30 – 6:30pm

Location: 1st Baptist New Braunfels
Cost: Free – No Registration Required

2nd is our Third annual Basketball Skills Camp. Skills Camp is the runway for our basketball season. Our coaches will be in attendance providing intentional instruction and drills for your athletes to take home. Skills camp is open to any homeschool student, regardless of basketball skill level. If you are wanting to play with Thunder this is a perfect opportunity to get your skills sharpened headed into tryouts. Please take the time to block off your calendars and make sure your athlete can attend. Below are the dates for Skills Camp….

What: Basketball Skills Camp
Dates: Mondays & Thursdays, 8/26 – 9/19
Who / When:
9-10 Year Old Boys and Girls, 5:30 – 6:30pm, Thursdays Only
MS and HS Girls, 5:30 – 6:30pm, Mondays Only
MS Boys, 3:30 – 4:30pm, Mondays & Thursdays
HS Boys, 4:30 – 5:30pm, Mondays & Thursdays

Location: 1st Baptist New Braunfels
Cost: 9-10 YO Boys and Girls – $45
MS / HS Girls – $45
MS / HS Boys – $90

The 3rd and final announcement is for basketball tryouts. We will be hosting tryouts for all teams the week of 9/23 – 9/27. Exact details and times will follow. This season we are planning to have the following teams:
Girls – 16U and 14U
Boys – 18U, 16U, 14U, 12U, and 10U

As you can see we are adding 2 additional teams to our program this season. What a blessing!! The Lord has been so faithful to provide facilities, athletes, and families that support our program. This means we will need more players and coaches. Please tell your homeschool community about these opportunities for players and coaches. You are the best part of Thunder and the best way for us to continue growth. We are eagerly anticipating his provision this season and thank you in advance for all of your support!
