NB Thunder Varsity Softball Walks It Off in Dramatic Comeback

22 Feb by Vanessa Dillon

Led by Head Coach Vinny Rodriguez, NB Thunder Varsity Softball battled back in true Thunder fashion to secure an electrifying 8–7 walk-off victory on Saturday over the ranked East Bernard Brahmarettes at the La Grange Best Little Tournament in Texas.

After trailing 6–0 early, Thunder never folded. The girls chipped away and then exploded in the bottom of the fourth inning, plating six runs to flip the game on its head. The decisive moment came when Gisi Martinez delivered a clutch single that drove in two runs to seal the comeback win.

In the circle, Ada Dillon battled through four innings, striking out two. At the plate, Dillon led Thunder with two hits in three at-bats, while Martinez, Caci Criddle, and Dillon each drove in a run.

This was a true team fight — down big, but never out. This win marks the second victory over a public school opponent in program history — a huge milestone that reflects the rapid growth, competitiveness, and culture being built within NB Thunder Softball.

The standard is rising. The belief is growing. The message is clear: NB Thunder Softball is building something special. We’re not just competing — we’re proving we belong. Proud is an understatement.
