Honoring the True Cost of Freedom

25 May by Laura Force

As we enjoy this long weekend with our families, the New Braunfels Thunder organization wants to pause and anchor our hearts in the true purpose of Memorial Day.
While it is easy to mistake this holiday as a general celebration of all military service, Memorial Day holds a distinct, sacred meaning. Today is a day specifically set aside to remember and honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice—the brave men and women who laid down their lives in uniform defending the USA and our liberties.
"Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." John 15:13
As a Christian homeschool organization, we strive to teach our athletes and students about character, leadership, and selfless service. There is no greater earthly example of that selflessness than the heroes we honor today who gave everything so that we can freely gather, compete, and worship today.
"All gave some, some gave all."
Whether you are spending today at the lake, resting at home, or firing up the grill, please join us in taking a moment of quiet gratitude and prayer for the gold star families who carry the weight of this day every single day.
Let’s never forget the true cost of our freedom.
Go Thunder, and God Bless America.
