About Us

Texas Homeschoolers United in the Need to Develop Education and Recreation

NB Thunder is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization aimed at creating and improving access to educational and recreational opportunities for homeschoolers in the New Braunfels area.  The organization was founded in 2022 by a collaboration of homeschool parents who sought to replicate the athletic and extracurricular opportunities that could only be found in San Antonio or Austin.

Our Mission

We exist to glorify God by developing Christian character and providing opportunities for homeschool families in New Braunfels and beyond to develop skills through competitive programs under unified Christian leadership.

Our Vision

We see this organization meeting an underserved demand from its own rapidly growing community during a time of unprecedented growth in the popularity and execution of homeschooling.  We shall attempt to provide the resources and opportunity in most demand within our community, which shall include but not be limited to those of an educational, social, or recreational nature.

Statement of Faith

  • We believe the God of the Bible is the only true God. He is Creator, Sustainer, and Governor of the universe existing in three persons- Father, Son and Holy Spirit. God is perfectly wise and the source of all good. He is omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient. We believe God is holy, righteous, just, good, loving, and full of mercy.. He is involved in and cares about my daily life. (John 1:1, John 1:14, Psalm 121:1-2)

  • We believe in the true deity and full humanity of our Lord Jesus Christ. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, and miracles We believe in Christ's atoning death through His shed blood, His bodily resurrection,  His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and  His personal return in power and glory. (I Peter 2:21-22 and John 19:30)

  • We believe that God reveals Himself through the creation, preservation, and government of the universe. We believe that God makes Himself more clearly and fully known through the Scriptures which are our ultimate and final authoritative rule for faith and practice. The Bible is the complete, inerrant, divinely inspired, and authoritative written Word of God that gives all that pertains to life and godliness.  (2 Timothy 3:16-17, Revelation 22:18-19)

  • We believe that all people have sinned and are guilty before God. We believe all people are loved by God and need Jesus Christ as their savior.  (Romans 3:23; John 3:16)

  • We believe that God sent his son, Jesus Christ, out of His love to save us from our sins. We believe a person comes into a right relationship with God by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ, not as a result of works. We believe that we are significant because of our position as children of God. (John 3:16: Ephesians 2: 8-9; John 1:12)

  • We believe God has appointed a day when He will judge the world in righteousness through Jesus Christ. We believe there is a heaven and a hell and that Jesus will return to judge all people and establish His eternal kingdom (John 14: 1-2)

  • We believe the church is God’s primary way to accomplish His purposes on earth. The church is the body of Christ, consisting of all believers. The church fulfills Christ’s mission and makes disciples of all nations bringing glory to God. We believe in the spiritual unity of all believers through our Lord Jesus Christ. All who are united to Christ as Head of the Church are united to one another in love and have communion in each other’s gifts and graces. (Ephesians 4:15; Romans 12: 4-8; and Matthew 28:18-20)

  • We believe God calls all Christians to show compassion to people in need. Everything we are and everything we have belongs to God. (Psalm 24:1-2; Psalm 82:3-4)

  • We believe that God defined marriage as the life-long covenant between one man and one woman, and that all forms of sexual activity outside of marriage are sin. • We believe that God immutably creates each person to reflect His image as male or female.(Matthew 19:5, Genesis 2:24)

  • We believe the family is the basic governmental, social, and spiritual unit created by God. In it, the child learns self-government, social relationships, and develops a relationship to the Creator and Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 6:1, and Colossians 3:20)
